Zimbabwe’s main opposition party, the Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC), is in big trouble. Many people are talking about a new steering committee being formed inside the party, but this is not a new thing. This committee has been there since the beginning of the problems. It played a key role in starting the recalls that have caused serious damage to the CCC.

The committee is led by Dingilizwe Tshuma, the former MP for Entumbane-Njube in Bulawayo. He and his team were the ones who started the recalls. These recalls were not small issues. They broke the party apart and left it in pieces. The CCC, which once gave many people hope, is now weak and divided.

This committee is made up of powerful people inside the party. Albert Mhlanga, the former MP for Pumula, is the deputy chair. Sengezo Tshabangu is the secretary-general. Khaliphani Phugeni is in charge of information. Sikhululekile Moyo is the women’s chair. Nomvula Mguni, a former MP, is also a member. Mbuso Siso is the treasurer, and Benoni Ncube leads the youth group. All of them know the party well and have been part of its power struggles.

At first, this group started by targeting a few CCC leaders in Bulawayo. But later, other people joined in. These included angry CCC members, some people from the ruling Zanu PF party, and even security agents from the state. They saw the recalls as a chance to cause chaos and weaken the opposition. Their plan was to destroy the CCC from the inside.

This plan has worked. The CCC is no longer united. The recalls have hurt the party badly. People are confused. Some supporters have lost faith in the party. Others don’t understand what is happening. Many now wonder if the CCC can run a country when it cannot even fix its own problems.

But this is not just about CCC members fighting each other. The real problem is bigger. The ruling Zanu PF party and state agents saw a chance to destroy the opposition. They helped cause more damage by joining the fight inside the CCC.

This shows that politics in Zimbabwe is very dirty. It is not just about winning elections. It is also about using tricks, lies, and power to crush your enemies. That is what we are seeing in the CCC right now.

To understand what is happening in Zimbabwe today, we must look at this committee. It is not new. It has been there from the start. It is the reason why the CCC is falling apart. If this problem is not solved soon, the future of the opposition — and of Zimbabwe’s democracy — is in danger.

Zimbabwe needs strong leaders and strong opposition parties. But with the CCC in pieces, many people are now asking: who will stand up for the people? Who will fight for change?

The recalls have done their job. The CCC is broken. But it is not too late to rebuild. The first step is to stop the fighting inside the party and expose the people who are working with the ruling party to cause confusion. Only then can the CCC get back to doing what it was created for — fighting for a better Zimbabwe.
