The Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) has strongly denied a fake letter circulating on social media that claims to recall its elected Members of Parliament and councillors. The letter, supposedly authored by Songezo Tshabangu, has been dismissed by the CCC as a blatant fraud and part of a dirty political plot meant to destabilize the opposition party.

According to CCC spokesperson Gift Ostallos Siziba, Tshabangu is not a member of CCC and never has been. He described Tshabangu as a known agent of confusion, previously aligned with MDC-T and PDP, and now allegedly working with Forever Associates Zimbabwe (FAZ)—a group widely linked to the Central Intelligence Organisation (CIO). The goal, according to Siziba, is simple: to disrupt and weaken the opposition using infiltration, lies, and underhanded tactics.

The timing of the fake recall is telling. It comes just days after CCC announced it would boycott President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s state-of-the-nation address—a move that clearly rattled Zanu PF. Instead of responding with political maturity, the regime chose to retaliate with deception.

The CCC has made it clear that no MPs or councillors have been recalled. They have condemned the letter as a cheap trick that deserves nothing but contempt. “Our movement remains united. We will not allow hired imposters to derail the will of the people,” Siziba said. “We are taking action against those behind this scam.”

The strategy of faking CCC recalls is not new. During the August 2023 elections, double candidates bearing the CCC name appeared in places like Bulawayo and Matebeleland North—another tactic widely believed to be coordinated by state agents and Zanu PF operatives. These acts show just how far the ruling party is willing to go to frustrate the democratic process and undermine any genuine opposition.

But the CCC is not backing down. The party has called on its elected officials to continue serving the people who voted for them. It has also urged Zimbabweans to stay vigilant and not fall for misinformation aimed at creating confusion.

This incident once again highlights the serious state of Zimbabwean politics. Zanu PF continues to abuse state institutions to crush dissent, while relying on proxies like Tshabangu to execute its plans. The judicial system, parliament, and even local government structures are being weaponized against the people’s will.

Yet, despite these challenges, the CCC remains a beacon of hope for millions of Zimbabweans who are tired of corruption, misrule, and political games. The attempt to undermine the party through fake recalls has failed before—and it will fail again.

As the 2023 post-election landscape unfolds, it’s becoming increasingly clear that Zanu PF fears the growing support for CCC. Instead of trying to win hearts and minds through service delivery and leadership, the ruling party continues to rely on repression, propaganda, and manipulation.

Zimbabweans must resist these schemes. The fight for democracy is not over, and the CCC’s strength lies in its unity and the mandate it received from the people. No fake letter or manufactured recall can change that.

In the end, the people of Zimbabwe will not be fooled. They know who they voted for—and they know who is trying to steal their voice. Tshabangu may try to pose as a secretary-general, but the public knows better. The real opposition is standing tall, unshaken, and ready to fight on.

The CCC has spoken. The people must now echo that call: enough is enough.
